Artist Statement:
Brown focuses on simple
moments of New Zealand life
and reflects these scenes
through his paintings with an
earthy quality. ‘I feel
compelled to make figurative
paintings, to capture subtle
movement and gestures and to
evoke positive emotion through
certain poise. I am always
looking for images and
movement to find strong line,
usually working the image to a
point where I have simplified
and heightened the figure at
the same time.”
Brown has paintings in
collections in New Zealand,
Europe and the USA.
The exhibition 'Being Here'
runs till December 4th 2005.
