Artist Statement for George Hendrickson
|
|
|
Art is an arrangement of color, texture, and form. Dealing with these three elements seems to encompass every aspect of my life and their expression directs my art and energies. In my quest for the proper texture and form for my paintings I have discovered a material akin to paper maché that allows the depth of texture I’ve been looking for without the need to completely dispense with a flat base. My forms come from nature in one aspect or another and color from within. These mixed media paintings tend to say what I need them to and my technique improves as the elements I need to express grow more complicated.
