Artist Statement:
I have been painting for 10 years. The common thread in my work is a strong attention to and affection for composition and expressive drawing and color. I find large shapes arranged into exciting compositions, personal line work, and deep, rich color and texture visually stimulating.
In my paintings, form is created from color and outline. Details are intentionally left out so that the imagination is free to fill them in. In this way the painting can act as a bridge between the inner world (the Self) and the outer world (the Universe).
My work ranges from the whimsical to the iconic. If I had to name it, I would call it suburban folk art. It expresses my most basic emotions and ideas about my everyday life. Everyday life which includes self-examination, pursuit of the spiritual, work, children, pets... remarkably similar to the daily lives of so many suburban women.
I paint to seek the Self and I find the Universe....
