Artist Statement:
Currently, he is working on a 'Luminous London' series, exploring the sensation of being in London with powerful contrasts of light, colour, shape and mood. The works feature playful use of geometry and colour, juxtaposing fading daylight with electrical illumination to arouse a state of sensory excitement.
Regardless of subject, Cary's paintings convey a deliberate emotional resonance, capturing fleeting moments, memories and sensations within forms and shapes that play with perception, often triggering new ways of perceiving much that we take for granted.
Elements are often allowed to rise and suggest themselves from the subconscious, and as well as being an ongoing journey of discovery, this is intended to entice viewers to perceive beyond obvious and literal frames of reference.
Selected works are available for download as prints from www.zazzle.com/carycharles and www.carycharles.imagekind.com Beyond this, the greatest depth of information is to be found at Cary's official website: www.carycharles.com.
