Artist Statement:
I work mostly in oils but
recently have picked up on
pastels, which I find quite
fun and easy to handle. Great
for something to do with less
work to get started like with
oil paints. I use soft
pastels, these seem to work
pretty well for me. I am a
self taught artist, and find
without a preconceived idea of
how to go about something has
helped me develop my own style
quicker. I am best learning
on the trial and error basis
in most things in my life. It
might take me longer to get
there but I enjoy making and
fixing my mistakes, that alone
is quite a learning
experience.
I have found that working with
figures is something that
really interests me. Maybe
it's my personality and liking
most people helps with the
figures. I like seeing the
differences in people. I
find seeing a person in all
shapes, sizes and colors, has
been very inspiring. I find
myself looking at some people
wishing I could paint them.
Detail is important to me.
The human body in action is
intriguing to me. I hope to
learn to capture movements and
make my work more active ...
