Artist Statement:
I work in three different series. The “Dolls and Fairytales” series uses fairytales and children’s playthings as imagery to explore gender roles, fears, vulnerability, alienation, and irrational expectations. Often the imagery is humorous. These visual metaphors are not clear narratives, leaving room for the viewer’s interpretation. In the “Rhythm” series I experiment with different design approaches while exploring repetitive daily activities. The “Everyday Narratives” series celebrates the magic of the everyday and those elusive moments that seem charged or symbolically significant.
My mediums of choice are acrylic, watercolor, color pencil, and soft pastel. I occasionally explore printmaking and ceramics.
