| Your Personal Biography |
Christine Alfery is an abstract expressionist mixed media painter and photographer. Her photography and paintings are visual poems that sing the praises of the natural landscapes she dearly loves.
The subject matter of Christines work has been gathered over years of wilderness travel. She has paddled in exotic locations such as Chilean Patagonia, the western fjords of Greenland, the barren lands of arctic Canada, and the wild lands of northern Manitoba. Closer to home, she has made numerous trips to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, Lake Superior, and a variety of locations in northwest Ontario. When not paddling, she works in her lakeside studio in northern Wisconsin and in her gardens where she finds the same peace, sense of freedom and spontaneity that she seeks and finds when she paddles. This book is dedicated to that peace and spontaneity that is found from the flowers in her garden.
Christine Alfery has always been an artist. She cant remember a time when she didnt love to create and make art and be surrounded by art. She has literally painted since she was six years old. She has worked as a curator, art education teacher and museum docent. For the past 30 years she has worked with designers and gallery curators shoring her work. She has shown extensively in galleries throughout the Midwest, including: Gallery 210 in Madison, Wisconsin; 7th Floor Gallery at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Signature Gallery, Stoughton Wisconsin; Gallery 3, Evansville, Wisconsin; Parkside Gallery, Minocqua, Wisconsin and MoonDeer and Friends Gallery, Boulder Junction, Wisconsin, Minocqua Furniture Gallery, Minocqua, Wisconsin. Christine has works in major collections throughout the United States. She has work in the University of Wisconsin- Madison collection, Curriculum and Instruction Department; the Progressive Insurance Collection; The Mike Tyson Collection; The Preview Showroom Collection; The Vivian Workman Collection; The Valassis Sales and Marketing Collection, The Ello Showroom Collection; The Artisan House Collection; The Directional Showroom Collection and The Greg Copeland Collection.
