Artist Statement for Cécile Tissot

Born in 1970, currently lives and works in Paris. Studio space in Montreuil.
My work, essentially sculptural, is an attempt at researching, recreating my own emotions, sparked by events, people, images, films,... It attempts to isolate moving, tragic moments, from destinies or places, and bring them to a place where it can touch on a more universal basis.
Recent work tackles the feeling of presence through absence, in a spiritual context through the 'oratoires vides', in nature through the 'Eclos' series, in life's events through the latest stone works. More and more, I want to take sculpture to the same level as us, taking it off its pedestals and its representation status, and give it a place in our concrete lives. I want it to experiment life, travel, exist. This can be seen in the short films made around the stone piece "La Place Vide"...
