Artist Statement for Cassandra Gordon-Harris
Cassandra has been listed each year, in Who's Who of American Women as Curator and Educator since 2001; and in Who's Who in America since 2004 as a Teaching Artist. Cassandra is also a long standing member of prestigious The National Association of Women Artists out of New York.
"My work always has been a personal explorations of human emotions. I do not paint portraits of women, I paint the concept of a woman. Using the female figure as a vehicle, I attempt to capture an emotional moment in time, for women are the architects of our civilization.
I also work with abstracts landscapes using the deep richness of colors, movement in design and a hard line to strengthen and broaden the feelings created in my paintings.
One thing I always try to convey in my work, no matter if the feeling of the painting is light or dark, is a sense of hope. An innate strength of character to overcome and go forward with life."
