Artist Statement:
I live just outside a small
village, almost surrounded by
forests.
Driving anywhere is dangerous,
Deer lurk waiting to scare
you.
In the summer they seem to go
into hiding or maybe they go
on holiday.
We have seen them in Scotland
over the summer, so maybe
that's where they go to.
My recent work is inspired by
childrens art work and the way
they see the world.
I am working on two series of
Deer story quilts, The first
is "The Deer go to Scotland
for their summer holidays" and
are really textile collages,
which are stretched over
frames.
The second series is "The Deer
at home" and these are more
quilt like.
The background's for the Deer
quilts are inspired by aerial
photographs, as is most of my
work. At present small
childlike animals seem to be
creeping into my work, I love
the touch of humour they
add....
