“ Bushfire ” Series
My painting focuses on the theme “Bushfire”.
Every summer, I am reminded of the threat of fire. In Australia
there are many bushfires. They are a natural part of the environment which we cannot control. After the destruction of the fire, new plants
start to emerge. This is a good thing as there is regrowth - renewal.
Some bushfires are caused by people. They can start a small
flame which gets out of control and leads to disaster.
I work with acrylic paint and plaster on chipboard. My work is
large scale and tactile. I try to convey the heat of the flames
through colour. I am interested in how fire is both a positive and
negative force. It can affect man and nature in both a good and
bad way. My work has become more abstract as a way of conveying
the essence of fire.
