| Your Personal Biography |
My name is Chris Chalk, I am an artist living in west Wales and my passion is to paint pictures. I grew up on a dairy farm in Wales and as a kid spent a lot of time drawing wildlife.
Then, of course, I grew up (sort of) and life got in the way of my painting. I had to do the usual things like get a job and earn a living.
I did many things work wise starting off as a Gamekeeper at 16 years old, then a Plumber for four years until I was 22, then I joined the Royal Navy for five years and sailed the seven seas (well, a couple of them anyway).
At 27 I moved to New Zealand to live for a year and ended up staying in NZ and OZ for the next 6 years or so. Great times where had by all.
I finally moved back to the UK in 2004 and am now living in Cardigan in west Wales.
So now I paint every day. A variety of subjects from welsh landscape paintings, wildlife paintings, pet potraits, to seascapes and Portraits.
My preferred medium is oil painting. I started off with watercolour painting, but decided to change to oils and haven't looked back.
I just don't have the patience to plan out a water colour painting really. With oil Painting I can get stuck in and any mistakes I can correct later. It's a very much more forgiving medium.
So there's a brief bio of your truly. If you're still awake (well done) and you want to find out more you can at my website. Take a look at my original oil paintings. There's a video demo section and a works in progress section to give you a heads up on my methods to.
Best wishes
Chris
