Artist Statement:
I am just dumb enough to
believe in authenticity. I am
just stupid enough to require
that paint be honest, that
honesty exist without
sentimentality, that sentiment
exist without irony, that
meaning slip without sliding
into the void.
If the lowest things on earth
are, in fact, joined with the
highest, let the absurd be
joined with the most
meaningful.
I do not wish to color a
reading of my work with texts
and motivations that exist
outside the work. I think
people have had too much to
think and ought to flex their
magic muscle....
