Artist Statement:
Color and movement fill my paintings and express my innermost feelings. Intuitive painting, which I call ‘inner painting’, combined with my emotional attachment to subjects such as horses, florals and at times human forms and symbols of belief systems is the basis of my process. ...

This is impossible to answer; I find myself being inspired daily by the colors and textures of the world surrounding me and the ideas dancing within me. |

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
I had such a strong urge to splash and play with color and draw everything in sight as a child. My mother, a fashion illustrator, made sure I had plenty of materials and time for this. I suppose I always knew that drawing, painting and designing space was my vocation. I traveled down many diverse paths in my life before focusing on my journey as an artist. After college I succumbed to my mother's wish for a commercial art education. Her intent was that I have a way of supporting myself, but I so disliked the idea of making art to someone else's specifications that I ditched that program after several years. I then worked in offices in secretarial, organizational and finally marketing capacities for almost 20 years before coming to the decision that what I most wanted from life was to paint and to teach. So at the ripe old age of 40 I jumped into the fine art world and quickly learned how rocky was the path I had chosen, and how greatly rewarding it was - especially the teaching part! |
