Artist Statement:
Sometimes we look at a painting and it's 'just a pretty picture.' Art, through visual imagery or just color and shape, can also touch a place within us, bring back a memory, a thought, or have another very personal meaning. The same painting can mean very different things to different people. That, for me, is the most gratifying part of being an artist. To touch something inside...in some way.
I like to paint 'living things' such as flowers and trees, animals or people, but perhaps in a different way. Color, and creating textures with color, has always been important in my art. I have also been experimenting with enhancing the textures further with the use of fabrics such as burlap and lace. I love the visual and tactile appeal....
