Artist Statement:
Statement
My artwork is a mixture of
mediums that include
watercolor and then a
transformation to photography
and finished digitally to
enhance texture. My form of
expression through each piece
is to recognize each medium’s
attributes to my composition.
Furthermore my artwork is a
creative way to collaborate
three mediums of contrasting
values in harmony with each
other. Hence, the viewer is
not exposed to one medium, but
several at work in a finished
piece filled with richer more
vibrant representation of the
original work. Textures come
alive in the paper as the
result of digital finishing,
and contours are assigned
throughout the piece after
being photographed. Also,
lines that are normally
invisible to the viewer are
brought forth digitally
through assigned color to
further enrich the composition
and give it complex feel.
My approach of working with
metal and photograph is to
represent nature’s
illuminating essence and form,
much like origami paper
design. What I wanted to
convey in my pieces is
nature’s balance of shadow and
light in the form of negative
and positive aspects using a
monochromatic medium such as
sheet metal.

Statement
