| Your Personal Biography |
Lucille Coleman received firm foundational training at Overbrook High School's Art Magnet Program after which she won a Board of Education scholarship to attend the University of the Arts. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts and graduated with honors winning her senior thesis, the William Ely Award for excellence in illustration. After graduating from college she created layouts, production art, and graphics for GlaxoSmithKline Corporation and Strawbridges. She freelanced in commercial art, created art for Artful Greetings card company and the Stock Illustration Source of NYC. Lucille created editorial illustrations for trade magazines, various publications and continues to produce commercial art. She also creates and sells commissioned and non-commissioned art and has exhibited in a variety of galleries, museums and venues. See Awards and Exhibitions list.
Lucille has a painterly technique that is loose, bold and direct, which she applies to her mostly figurative works. She enjoys utilizing a sculptural chiaroscuro light source on her models and her various media at present include oil, graphite, acrylic, and watercolor. Her recent themes include several kinds of dance such as latin and hip hop. Other themes are regarding still life, business, family, men with babies, and erotic chic.
Lucille’s more recent works have been created digitally in Adobe Illustrator. She is presently completing continuing education courses at the University of the Arts Print Design Program for Digital Art.
