Artist Statement:
Concrete art
Curiosity, intuition and
experimentation are elements
that guide and characterize
the projection, creation and
identity of my paintings,
which carry in all the
production the title "Concrete
Vison".
The structural reference of
the drawing is in the limit of
the line, the line that has
origin in the geometric figure
of the circle, "because every
straight line is a limit of a
circle." That pictorial
architecture is configured in
delimited plans where color
has an echo and
representation. Color sets the
tone of the musicality in the
painting. It is applied within
the dynamics of alternate
rhythms with incessant beating
of the brush on the canvas.
The predominant texture
resulting of that echoed
action also reveals a subtle
depth as a consequence of the
transparency of the oil paint.
This constant dialogue with
the line, form and the light
on canvas, gives dimension to
the abstract idea
materializing it in a concrete
element, which is the concrete
painting.
The non-figurative painting
whether it is geometric or not
have been presented in the
current contemporary context,
almost constantly, as
"abstract art." That complex
concept, and at times
controversial, intrigues me
and makes me assume, in a
certain way...

Roberto Silva, been born in setember, 11 of 1956 in São Paulo city, Brazil. Studied until the third year of plastic arts and teaching at Armando Alvares Penteado ( FAAP ) from 1979 to 1982 in São Paulo.
1982-Course of silkscreen, litograph, and metalengraving at FAAP-São
Paulo.
1984-Scenography of childhood theater at Cultural Center of São Paulo.
1986-Atelier of silkscreen, when issue own engravings and from other artists to Glatt and Document galleries. São Paulo
1987-Coletive exhibition of photografy at Jardim Botanic gallerie of São Paulo.
1989-Exhibition of paitings and engravings at Promocenter of Arts gallerie. São Paulo.
