Artist Statement:
"Connell's figures actually
looked burned. They are
composed of bits of newspaper
dipped in tar and built around
rude armatures of blackened
wood. A dusting of sand gives
them an even more ashen
appearance, though they also
resemble heaps of rotting
leaves..."

Atlanta, Georgia in 1940. He
attended Brown University, in
Providence, RI (1958-1960),
the Art Students League, NY
(1960-1961) and New York
University (1962). He has work
in numerous public and private
collections....
