Artist Statement
My artistic expression is punctuated by a fascination with the archetypal triad that embraces the cosmos, nature, and humans. Filtered through the complex imagination of the human mind, this fascination is ultimately reflected in my sculptures, which capture a unique and vigorous spontaneity while at the same time underscore a delicate, yet highly conceptualized interpretation of the subject.
I like the feeling of marble and stone as mediums, because they allow for an artistic expression that is direct, energetic and decisive. The form that my work takes is simple and fluid, perhaps even organic. However, my designs are influenced by the flexibility and fluidity captured by the sculptures of Jean Arp, the simplicity and purity of Henry Moore, Imasu Noguchi and inevitably by the “father of modern sculpture”, Constantin Brancusi.
As a sculptor, I try to capture the fleeting intensity that exists at the moment of creation and offer it to the individual viewer for personal interpretation.
