Artist Statement for Corrie Ancone

"When i started out as an artist my medium was painting, but falling in love with photography allowed a spontaneity i was craving.

I don’t care for the certainty of what’s in front of my lens, but the creativity, the fantasy, the invention, that can gush from a thought thereafter/before.
Between the certain and the uncertain there’s a possible space, like in dreams and fables.
My photography is similar to and reflects the techniques and working styles of the early European Dadaists by whom i am surely influenced along with Impressionism and Baroque.
Drawing my inspiration from mythology and nature, my creativity stems from my lust for finding and exploring sympathies between the human body/the landscape and textures.
Using the technique of sandwhiching stills, colors and images collide, creating new visual and emotional images, often painterly and somewhat surreal.
Abstract landscapes , portraits and a pantheon of contemporary mythological beings.charged with sensuality and tinged with more than a hint of eroticism."
