Artist Statement:
Art lets us go beyond the
limits of language. There is
something immediate about
seeing an image that is lost
when one must translate words
into meaning. I am
particularly interested in
people. As a subject matter,
people lend themselves to and
extreme level of expression.
With a seemingly trivial
change in the highlight in a
pupil, curve of a mouth, or
droop in a shoulder, the
entire mood of the piece and
subject can be drastically
changed. I find it fascinating
to be able to evoke such
emotions with some paint and a
canvas.
With art, I am able to find
the courage to communicate
things that I do not have the
courage to say with words. It
allows me to be myself and
live in the moment. When
immersed in the world of art,
I am able to let go of the
stress of every day life and
focus all of my thoughts and
energy into one thing. For me,
my artwork is like a secret
journal that only the
perceptive and observant few
will be able to fully
understand. My artwork also
gives me a sense of identity
and self worth and allows me
to find out ...

Welcome to Courtney Kenny's Portfolio.
Art lets us go beyond the limits of language. There is something immediate about seeing an image that is lost when one must translate words into meaning. I am particularly interested in people. As a subject matter, people lend themselves to and extreme level of expression.
