Artist Statement:
A definition of my work would be Abstract Expressionism, contemporary, or capturing an emotion through Figurative Expressionism, but at the same time the work is Primal. Much of my inspiration comes from an emotion at a moment and/or the environment (a stones, a tree limb, or any of the elements) realizing and understanding of the 3rd dimensions textures and surfaces and how color may be probable or improbable from nature to the work, this works for me in both aspects. At the same time, there is a definite line where nature ends and “man-made” begins and how the environment effects synthetic materials to attempt to bring it back to the earth. My work is spontaneous to my feelings in the moment yet to express the single thought takes calculation and planning. The preparation of cement and natural blending of colors (or lack of) is essential in expressing my original thought or idea. For me painting is my Personal Zone of Freedom. Much of the time it is freedom from Form, Fit, and Function, free from restrictions and standards. Every piece of work is an experiment, some calculated others random as in nature, and no two inches of the ...

| Your Personal Biography |
Chuck Klusmeyer was born in Anderson, Indiana in 1972. He received a BBA in Operations Management, from Georgia Southern University in 1995, and has been living in Perrysburg, Ohio since 2000. Although he is mainly a self-taught artist, art has always played an integral part of his life. From early childhood he attended art classes from local artists in Anderson and at Anderson University. Sketching or painting has always been there for him throughout his life. He began consistently painting with acrylics on canvas in 2000 starting with industrial style paintings, landscapes, and portraits and eventually evolving into more abstract works. In 2007 he discovered the medium of cement and concrete, engraving, voids, or cavities, depth, texture, movement, some capabilities of thought that may not be achievable on canvas.
