Artist Statement:
The Caribbean, where I come
from, is a hot-blooded culture
where color and emotions run
on high. I use these colors
and emotions combined with the
human figure and its psyche to
create narratives that combine
them all. The basis of my
creative process during the
recent years has fallen
between the relationships of
my everyday, the memories,
either mine own or borrowed
ones, that have helped
fabricate whom I am, and the
space they occupy. The core
of my work is the human
figure, with special attention
to their expressions, skin
color, and body language. The
scale of my figures are life
size in most of the work, to
create a sense of reality, and
to demand attention, making
the viewers feel like the
story is developing in front
of them. These figures are
placed in spaces and
situations that tell a story.
These narratives are sometimes
easily readable, other times
the title completes them.
