Artist Statement:
“Death is no longer another stage in a process that ends in a union with God, it is an ending of everything that our culture celebrates, an unbearable full stop. To admit the fact of death is to admit that we have lost control. We cannot manage the individual body forever.”

Whilst death is a condition of life, the sight of people dying in reality is generally hidden from public view and is a subject which today is considered to be even unsociable to speak about.
Religion prepares us well for our impending demise and the thought of a heavenly existence elsewhere seems to almost dominate the lives of most of those who cannot comprehend the possibility of eventually becoming a nonentity.
Whilst not disregarding the concept of Heaven or denying its existence All the King’s Horses and All the King’s Men couldn’t put Humpty Together Again is descriptive of the reality of what happens to the body after death and is an exhibition of work which is emblematic of the vulnerability of the corpse and its lack of authority regarding post mortems.
