| Biggest Artistic Inspiration |
I find the greatest inspiration through personal life experience. I am inspired by raising a family, and by the everyday commonplace spirituality of seeing.
I am always returning to a sort of personalized hand-tuned mode of image making through photographic and cinematic means. I employ the various strengths and weaknesses of the imaging tools I use in order to bridge the distance between experience and representation.
Both photographs and (moving image) film speak through metaphor, and represent the interior experience of life through external visual means. |

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
The greatest struggle is to see through the smokescreen of commercialism, materialism and the various other flavors of mediated vision in order to recognize and attend to the jittering, life giving relationships around us.
The way people integrate life experiences with a bigger understanding of place, historical context, and social community varies. I process these factors through visual investigation, and representation.
I am captivated by the fovial spaces and visual phenomenon on the edges of focus. Fovial experiences can encompass personal vision as well as cultural/historic understanding. Communities and geographies on the outskirts of public knowledge can provide equivalent experiences. |
