Washington DC Artist, Daniel
Nie, developed his own art
technique that he calls
“Yi-mpression.” He applies the
principles of French
impressionism with Chinese
Xieyi painting (pronounced
shay- e), which means to
express the inner feeling of
the artist. Creating this
unique style has allowed him
to interpret everyday objects
through the celebration of
color, light, texture and
composition.
Nie is a native of Shanghai,
China. He came to the USA 30
years ago after accepting a
full scholarship to study
art. Later Nie taught 6 years
art courses at colleges. Nie
holds a master degree in Art
History and Fine Arts from The
American University,
Washington, DC.
Daniel Nie is considered as
one of the leading artists in
America. He lives in the
suburb of Washington, DC.

Artist Daniel Nie Conducts more than 15 shows per year around the USA. He was one of the very few first Chinese students coming from China received a full scholarship in 1981 to pursue formal Western art education in American. Today he is one of the most successful Chinese-American Artists in the nation. His works have been collected from people at the White House to the CEOs of major corporations and Universities around the country.
