Artist Statement for Dan Mcgibbon

Daniel Frederick McGibbon b.1954 Seattle, Washington, USA

I remember as a young child being able to drawn from what I saw or my imagination. Almost every artist I have met has said they too have been able to drawn at a young age. But, I also believe everybody has the ability to create art in some form.
I have some formal training in Art and have a Associates Degree in Graphic Design where I studied many forms of creating Art. I also have a Associates Degree in Printing where I learned how to reproduce my artwork. One of the greatest tools for creating and reproducing art is the computer which I have been using to create artwork since 1988.
I still like to use oils and watercolors in my paintings and experiment with different ways to create art. Some of my latest work has been oil and enamel paint on wood, done very quick and loose using photos for reference, mostly portraits or figures. My latest computer drawings are done the same way using the mouse as a drawing tool.
Over the years I have sold some of my paintings through local Galleries and to friends. I also have sold illustrations and graphic design for many different clients as a free-lance artist.
Creating art is an expression and should be spontaneous and inspire some emotion or response from the viewer.

"Exposed"
Poured emotion
Showers of passion
Color-Line-Shape
Melting together
The final stroke
And the Artist is Exposed
