Artist Statement:
Torn between sculpture in
limestone and portraiture in
pastels, I work between them
both. Sculpting since June '08
and working in Pastels since
April '09 I play with them
both, completely differently.
I use nature as inspiration
for my sculptures. Working in
Abstract form develops a
connection with the spirit,
while my pastel work is based
on realism. Complete
contradictions to one another.
Recently invited to appear in
the International Directory of
Artists 2011 this has
reignited my passion to
network even harder.
Continually stepping out of my
comfort zone has bought me in
new directions. Writing a book
based on Schizophrenia and
Art, and with the help of my
former psychologist, who has
put a proposal to the drug
company that makes the
medication I am currently on.
With their sponsorship to have
the book published I already
have plans for a second book.
I have several ideologies I
follow. "As one door opens,
another closes", "Live for the
day", "If at first you don't
succeed, try, try, try again"
and "If you go in expecting a
'no' you're already over the
worst of it".I don't know if I
made the last one up, or ...
