Artist Statement:
i realize, when i actually stop and think about it, that art for me is about a dialogue. i can read a book, hear a piece of music, see a film, go to a museum, pick a flower, or eat a fabulous meal and the experience will suggest a picture in my head. i react strongest to visual stimulus and i respond in a visual way. for me, the process of creating has always been as pleasurable as looking at the finished work there in front of me. i’m in love with material - with texture and color, and with the ephemera that i accumulate each day of my life. And while i am easily amused (seduced even) by computers and technology, i grow weary of looking at a monitor after a while. i want to produce work that is tactile, i want to get my fingers dirty with paint and glue, i want to be physically engaged in the work that i am producing. i have never considered myself an issues painter, i’m not trying to get some kind of point across. i could give you a list of items that inspired, in small or large ways, the ...
