Artist Statement for Debbie Wagner

|
Debbie Wagner is a pastel artist living in Rural Kansas. She derives her subject matter from the rich life around her. The spirit of the land and the people are her inspirations. She enjoys working both from photo references and in Plein Air. Recently, she is journaling her day with plein air paintings of the sunrise. "Pastel is the perfect medium to work in for Plein air painting (Paintings which are done on location) because you can apply the colors immediately. The sunrise changes very quickly and there would be no drying time!" Pastels are a dry pigment and when used on archival Wallis paper and placed under glass will last for hundreds of years.
