Artist Statement for Denys Katz Harvell

|
The inspiration of my work comes from my love to travel and explore nature. During my travels, or perhaps because of them, I have explored many facets of my artistic style and subject matter. I first began to utilize oil paints after inspiration born in a dream, and the subject of my art changed to include landscapes. My paintings reflect the feelings I experience of being lost in nature and a break from the stress of other aspects of my life. These landscapes illustrate a close up view to share my joy and love of the environment. The beauty of nature inspires me and I am moved to paint the vibrant colors of fall, old barns, a California sunset, or a waterfall in Alabama. My love of being outdoors has transpired into art that mimics the beauty in the natural world. I discover more of myself as I continue to paint, regardless of the subject matter.
