Artist Statement for Derek Langley
|
|
|
I specialise in atmospheric landscape and architectural photography featuring snow, mist, and infrared. My photographs are mostly in black and white, or with sepia-toning, and focus on London, Cambridge and Oxford. At my website at http://www.darknessandlight.co.uk, you can visit my searchable galleries of some 400 images, and find out about buying original photographs.
I print all my own black and white photographs. Drawing inspiration from Kahil Gibrain's phrase Work is Love made Visible, I dedicate about eight hours in the darkroom to getting each new photograph as perfect as I can make it.
My photos have featured in Photo Art International, Photography Monthly, and Amateur Photographer, on a number of book covers, and been published as art posters by Image Conscious of San Francisco, as well as in an exclusive range of cards and calendars.
