Welcome to Dianne K Webb's Portfolio.
I paint from a concept of a concrete object, an idea, or an emotion. My interest lies in the experience of creation as an artist as well as with the response to a piece from the viewer or audience. I am interested in texture and moving from the flat canvas into space...moving from one plane of understanding to another. At the moment I am experimenting with wire mesh and plaster to “reshape” the canvas into a form that takes the painting literally off the canvas and into a new direction.
Art is reflection, expression, opportunity. In the bigger picture, I see art as a chance to see ourselves...to glimpse into our own humanity or lack of humanity and come face to face with a piece of our identity, or avoidance, or heart, or trouble...and have a moment or grace where we can move through, beyond, into new, other, possibility. As an artist it is my job to access that source of knowing that may not be cognitive or technical, but if I communicate from there I have done my job.
