Artist Statement:
My name’s Si Barbour- Brown,
I’ve just graduated from the
‘illustrious’ Edinburgh
College of Art. I’m 22 and
just about ready to get going
on the freelance illustration
so I appreciate anyone that
wants to take a look at my
work and even comment on it.
For years I’d always wanted to
produce art that was bright,
bold, eye-catching and
interesting. During my time at
Edinburgh College Of Art I
actually managed to start
heading in the direction I’d
had in mind for so long and
create images that were as
honest as possible to my
original intent.
The work usually begins with
pen and ink sketches evolving
into a final black and white
version, this is then scanned
and I add effects, colour,
more detail and so - depth
into the images. There is a
lot of “rock/poster” art out
there but I think my work
might have that something
extra that people are looking
for to help move the genre
along…even if it’s just a tiny
bit, I guess we’ll see. I’m
nervous but always excited
about what the future may hold
in terms of my work.
