Artist Statement:
Painting is the dialog of the self made tangible. For me it is the externalization of vision, thought, emotion, and history. It is a communication of my innermost thoughts and feelings. My art is both the product and document of my journey through life.
Each blank canvas is much like a new relationship. I don't find images so much as they find me. I allow events and processes to structure the experience and the emotion. It is only after we have come to know each other that we begin to make plans. Finding our way with each other. Finding each other's hearts and souls.
Events and artifacts from my life find their way into my work. Becoming both icons of my existence and reminders of lessons learned. The imagery in my paintings materializes from a blend of the electronic stew in which we find ourselves engulfed in the last years of the twentieth century. Each new vision is built on its predecessors and is manipulated through digital media and paint to suit the mood and event that evoked it.
I paint in a way that is both expressive and considered. Allowing accident to balance reason. I blend media ...
