Artist Statement:
Gaston Bachelards book ‘The
Poetics of Space” has been a
catalyst for my work for many
years. The book takes us from
cellar to the roof space and
explains how our perceptions
of buildings shape our
thoughts, memories and
dreams.
A sense of place is important
to me, and the response, in
paint, is ultimately born out
of integrity of that place.
I subscribe to the honesty of
seeing and the integrity of my
application of paint.
Ultimately, I use the vehicle
of landscape and the language
of paint to express a
perspective of the world I
experience .
