Artist Statement:
Paintings are a feedback loop
not just between canvas and
artist but canvas and the
whole spectrum of relations
the artist holds. A finished
painting is a satisfactory
innovation and solution upon
the originating paradigm--the
state of agitation which
initiates the art piece is
transformed and satisfied by
the process of finishing it.
Ultimately the painting
process becomes like the
eventuality of a Bodhisattvah
as he proceeds through the
layers of Samsara in Buddhist
cosmology. It encompasses
cycles most fundamental to
human experience, such as
effects of weather,
considerations of life and
mortality, revelations of a
more perfect cosmology, in
addition to more finite
identifiers of western or
eastern culture, sexuality,
gender, symbols of particular
zeitgeists, and so on....
