Artist Statement for Liz Lima
Many have said my work is tranquil, uplifting, zen, calming, holds a strong sense of light, space and depth, atmospheric...emotional landscapes.
I have a large body of work in abstract paintings. This is only a glimpse as to what I have created.
Abstract painting communicates emotion and thought in an alternative persepective. The idea of communication that is further involved is about memories, the unconscious, how the image in the painting resembles something. Certain images, textures and compositions can cause emotions and visions to surface yet still lay vague to the viewer. My intention is in hope that viewers will find something under the surface, to look beyond the obvious.
Some of my motivation emerges from an attraction to line, light and space designs in interior areas and architecture. However, it really comes down to creating art becuase I need to for myself.
Thank you for viewing my artwork.
