Artist Statement:
Her mother is an artist and her father an astrophysicist, with a very strong interest in art from childhood their influence shows in her work. Elizabeth enjoys working in many mediums such as drawing, painting, ceramics and sculpture. She is also working as an arts educator and resident artist at the San Diego children's Museum, and recieved her degree at San Diego State University in art education, she also has been working as an artist at Sea World doing oriental brush painting For five years. Elizabeth devotes her life to art because she believes art enriches our lives and spirits. She has been painting mandalas since 1998, Expressing the need for balance in life, her art is a reflection of the symmetrical nature of the universe.
Elizabeth's artwork is influenced by the mandalas of many cultures. Mandala is the Sanskrit word for circle. In religious art, the mandala is used to symbolize wholeness - the circle of eternity. However, the pattern of a mandala -- a circle with a center -- reaches far beyond a two or three dimensional art form.
