Artist Statement:
Eliza Latreille moved to New York City in August of 1995 to attend the School of Visual Arts for painting. During her studies, she became increasingly interested in Puppetry, Doll-making and Costume Design, and devoted her time to the pursuit of what is now a burgeoning career. As well as making Livin' Dolls for people all over the world, she is also a successful designer and artist. Her costumes for the acclaimed "Birdy's Bachelorette Party", an interactive off-Broadway play (now into its third successful year) made the show an instant hit, and Eliza still oversees all creative costume design from New York to Philadelphia, where the show has recently opened. As an artist, she won acclaim for two New York City public art projects, the first as one of two retouching artists for CowParade 2001, in which life-sized fiberglass cows were painted and displayed all around New York City and sold at auction, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity.
