Artist Statement:
pate de verre - Humans, in their drive to dominate and control their environment, have lost the connection to peace and sanity. Meaning cannot be found in invention and possesions. Humans have become so disconnected from the natural world that we, as a species, have gone insane. We have forgotton that we are not separate from, or the epitome of,the beauties of the earth. Rather, we are only one part of an integrated whole. And as we destroy and lose the diversity, as we fuel the 6th extinction, we diminish ourselves.
Much of my work is concerned with the small creatures, the underpinnings of life, and the colors and patterns of the planet, the sheer beauty of diversity, it's interconnectedness. Other pieces reflect the roots of our psyche and symbol; the stories of creation and gods and goddesses, the need to remember and recapture the feminine; and dreams and other forms of spiritual expression of the duality of life.
