I have been taking photos since I was a kid and have lived in and photographed the wonders of 17 of the states of the US. For more than 30 years I have pursued a love of nature, trees, and flowers, capturing that love on film. In 1999 I opened up shop as ELphotos to sell decor and stock photography (for promotional and editorial use). I also design note cards from my photos as well as make key chains, magnets, gift inserts and bookmarks of my favorite images. Until December 2003, I lived with my sister (Sally), two parrots (Falco and Faun), an iguana (Clarence) and two 3-foot ragdolls (Frank and Rich) whose tiny possessions littered the entire house. That conglomeration made a bevy of photographic subjects if I didn't have a mind to step into the outdoors. I am now married and reside in Illinois, just south of Chicago. I use my Nikon and a Canon digital camera to relax and wind down from the day's strife and, hopefully I can snap some pictures others will enjoy.
I am a member in good standing of Tri-State Arts Association, Professional Photographers of West Virginia, the International Freelance Photographers Organization, and North American Nature Photography Association.
Until the autumn of 2000, I had never sought recognition for my photographic work. At that time I juried into the Tri-State Arts Association (tri-state consists of West Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky) and received the following comments: "Good capture of sunset...like framing of trees against sunset...softening is pleasant...color lends to feeling...good subject matter, placement, and complimentary lighting...excellent...sets a mood well...mystic quality...interesting composition....well balanced...wonderful reflection...good design...captured beautiful color...nice soft effect...very sharp and clear lines...do more of what you are doing."
I donated copies of my photo books, featuring my best-loved work, "Trees I've Loved" and "Impressions" to the Fletcher Publishing Lending Library, Huntington High Renaissance Center, Huntington, WV.
Fletcher Publishing, Huntington, WV, utilizes portraiture work for authors of its books.
Xlibris, a division of Random House, used an author portrait by Elra Norris for the back of its publication, "Little Sallies of the Mind."
Two of my photographs were utilized for the cover of my own book, Faces Against the Wind, A Memoir" in 2004.
My photographic work has been accepted for representation by Photosights and Agora Galleries in Soho, NYC.
My greatest reviews come in the form of payment from photobuyers of my decor and stock photographs and the many who have purchased my note cards.
