Charlene Swoboda's Artist Portfolio
Welcome to Charlene Swoboda's Portfolio. Realizations, (mini epiphanies), hit us in different ways. Some may call it "hearing an inner guidance", while others say it's just knowing ourselves better, or even contemplating whether life, (and our personal organizations of it), are working or not.
For me, making art is about considering relationships within environment. While often this stems from what is directly viewed and depicted (objects/still lives/landscapes, dreams, etc), it inevitably ends up speaking something about myself as I need to interact with what I'm perceiving.
My paintings, mixed media collage, digital photography, and occasionally sculptures, depict personal aha moments-when I realized a change was needed-or in its happening-or when something was so beautiful it stopped me in my tracks so I could document and share it with others. Often times these moments have occurred quite vividly for real and I attempted to capture their essence (and my perception) with the most appropriate art material.
(While I often use paint, I'll also use whatever the idea calls for! For instance I've used found objects, poetry snippets, telephone books, scrap paper from my shredder, wax candles, clothing, and hangers from my closet even to create imagery.)
