Artist Statement:
My work is a culmination of years as a blacksmith along with my formal studies at the University of Wisconsin's art school in River-Falls, where I majored in sculpture.
While many steel sculptures are choosing to jump on the rusty bandwagon of popular "industrial grunge" as a representation of steelwork, I choose instead to forge the lines and forms of metal, as a respect to those master metalsmiths who came before.
Using blacksmithing techniques learned from old smithies, I work the metal with forge and hammer. Creating one of kind works of art that will last.
I have experiemented with forms that are naturally two-deminsional, such as Arabic calligraphy and forged it into three deminsional forms. ...
