Artist Statement:
I work from a place of curiosity about something that is mysterious. I set up a process in which complex color combinations and intricate patterns can arise almost spontaneously, analogous to processes of nature.
I hope for particular kinds of results, though. I strive to condense an essence or distillation of energy that resonates with the experience of emotion, spirituality and time. In Buddhism and Hinduism, there is the sound Om, or Aum, which represents the vibrating energy of creation; a vibration that brings matter into being. The idea that this is an actual vibration intrigues me, because it relates to contemporary ideas in quantum physics, string theory and wave-particle duality. Physicists tell us that everything we know is just energy, vibration, and in my work I aim to visualize this universal phenomenon.
Observers have associated my work with energy fields, music, the light and space movement, quantum and string theories, landscape, weaving, genetics, etc....
