Artist Statement for Erlend Mørk
|
|
|
Young Norwegian photographer with a taste for the dark and eerie. Erlend uses a camera to capture the pieces which are subsequently assembled and woven together on a computer. This technique allows for a leap from what might be called traditional photographic reality into a less rigid universe of dreams and subconsciousness which more often is associated with other mediums. And while the depicted scenes are certainly surreal, there is still present the photographic illusion of 'real'. Thematically the images revolve around dark and melancholic matters with a touch of horror, using visual metaphors to tell the story.
