Artist Statement:
France Benoit Quebec artist.
Attracted by dance at a very
young age, I quickly learn
from my father
that the artistic expression
is without interest and that
it is better
to choose a more conventional
career. Technician in computer
for 10 years, I succumb, with
the birth of my son, to a
desire of creation that was
choked. My need for artistic
expression appears with such
an urgency that I precipitated
myself on the only course
offered in my vicinity,
oil-base painting. Under the
supervision of private
professors, I discovered not
only a talent, but also an
avid creative energy to
express the unvoiced comment
of the last 30 years. It is
the beginning of a major
transformation, which, by a
fortuitous succession of
events, will lead me to my
true passion, painting on
gourds. This form of art of
the thousand faces challenges
me at such a point that I
leave the comfort nest which
my employment offers to plunge
in the unknown and dubious
world of Art. I now explore
the medium of the gourd
for almost 3 years now. My
process of creation often
results from an
