Artist Statement:
Quilts, as fiber art, are made much the same as functional bed quilts. There are three layers, a designed top, a batting and then a backing. These are stitched together by hand or machine.
I am an avid art quilter who is continually experimenting with surface materials and design. I love color, texture, and the tactile quality of textiles and at present am hand dying and painting many of my own fabrics, which I then combine with commercial prints. My work is continuously evolving. It draws much of its inspiration from the shapes and colors found in nature and travel and also from the patterns and rhythms inherent in the juxtaposition of color and texture in the fabrics I choose to complete each piece. ...
