Artist Statement:
I am convinced, that we can
only reach the highest quality
in our work, if we deeply and
honestly love what we do and
do what we love. Out of
respect and admiration for the
masters of the past, and out
of a desire to set a
counterpoint against some
questionalble trends in todays
art market, I felt obliged to
figurative painting ever since
I started.
I am a modern painter, going
for my own style, but I feel
a need to discover the
techniques and secrets and
follow the traditions and
values of old masters like
Caravaggio, Velàzquez or Frans
Hals, to name just a few.
Among my contemporary
favorites are Andrew Wyeth and
Odd Nerdrum as well as Robert
Schoeller.
Lots of the most wonderful
pieces of art in history
resulted from commissions, and
also in that sense I go
traditional ways. I am open
for commissions, and my
clients full satisfaction is
my main priority. My targets
in each painting are to reach
a combination of impeccable
craftsmanship with the ability
to catch my subjects inner
personality, beauty and
uniqueness, to create artworks
of lasting value.
